In the Mayawest Writing Project (MWWP) we believe teachers are the most qualified agents in teaching other teachers; thus, our activities consist of sharing ideas, strategies and techniques we use and are successful in our classrooms. Our workshops include theoretical background, connections with content standards issued by the DEPR, evaluation methods and assessment, and alternatives for adapting the workshops for others to use in their classrooms. Currently we are the only bilingual project affiliated to the National Writing Project and the only site in Puerto Rico.
Our vision is to be the driving force in the development of writing skills as an essential component in all subject areas and all levels of education.
The MWWP aims to train and entrust committed teachers of all subject areas with promoting both academic and creative writing skills in students.
